What are the Aprilfeesten?
We’re a traditional festival dedicated to the Nieuwmarkt area, celebrated and organised by local residents since 1988. It’s comprised of different festival tents, bars and food trucks - right on the Nieuwmarkt Square.

We like to be kind of mysterious about it, which is why we call it the worst kept secret of Amsterdam. 

What can you expect?
Your neighbours, young and old. Music, food and drinks. A couple of tents, a swing ride, and a miniature ferris wheel. Dancing, singing, flirting and grinning. There’s activities for both adults and children. Every year is different, but there’s always the traditional Neighbourhood Breakfast on Sunday.

Note: 18+
The square is freely accessible. However, on weekend evenings we enforce an 18+ policy. The square may also be closed off if the situation requires it, to keep things safe for everyone. Local children (under supervision) are of course still welcome.
